Ukraine-Russia latest: Trump hints at US air support and says ‘it’s better’ if Putin and Zelensky meet without him…

While the US president has ruled out sending US boots on the ground, he told Fox News: “When it comes to security, (Europeans) are willing to put people on the ground. We’re willing to help them with things, especially, probably … by air.”

This comes as he’s said it would be best for Zelensky

and Vladimir Putin to meet without him, casting doubt on the possibility of a much-touted trilateral meeting.

The Russian and Ukrainian leaders are “in the process” of setting up a bilateral meeting, Trump told radio host Mark Levin.

“Now I think it would be better if they met without me. If necessary, I’ll go,” he added. The comments come just three days after Trump said “they both want me there, and I’ll be there”, following his Alaska summit with Putin.

European leaders yesterday discussed the details of how a peacekeeping force would be deployed from roughly 10 countries , according to Bloomberg, one day after their high-stakes talks in the White House .
