Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) fired back on Monday after President Donald Trump called her a “low IQ person” as he bragged about passing a basic cognitive test.
“He’s never been known to be an Einstein,” she told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “This is not a guy who got in on merit when it came to going to college. This is someone who, but for him being born with a silver spoon, probably wouldn’t have gotten into anybody’s institution, unlike me.”
She said she could “guarantee” that Trump’s IQ “qualifies as low” ― if he’s even taken a test recently ― and said she is waiting for a reporter to ask for his IQ given how often he brags about it.
Trump earlier Monday claimed he had taken an “aptitude” test, but what he described was actually the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.
That’s the infamous “person, woman, man, camera, TV” test he took in 2020 and has bragged about passing ever since, often incorrectly suggesting it’s some kind of intelligence test.
It’s not.
It’s meant to check for signs of cognitive problems and dementia, and is designed to be easy to pass for someone with normal cognition.
Trump on Monday again bragged about passing, then claimed that neither Crockett nor Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) could pass that same test.
“Let AOC go against Trump. Let Jasmine go against Trump,” Trump said.
Crockett noticed a pattern in the president’s attacks, pointing out that he “consistently is obsessing over two women of color.”
“I don’t know what Black woman hurt him in his past, honey, but it is really taking him through it,” she said, urging him to “focus on his real job” instead of obsessing over her.
Ocasio-Cortez also fired back at Trump, asking if Trump had taken a test known to check for signs of neurological problems such as a stroke or dementia:
